I “Quattro Palazzi”
The building itself is one of the “Quattro Palazzi”, which means “Four Buildings”, located in Piazza Nicola Amore. The building has over a century of history and it presents ornamental elements inspired by the neo-Renaissance period.
Duomo station
Piazza Nicola Amore is a square which is in constant transformation. By 2020 the “Duomo” station of Metro Line 1 will be inaugurated. The station will connect the historical center to the Capodichino airport, and the square will become a pedestrian island.
The station will also be one of the most beautiful artistic metro stations of the city, designed by the renowned architect Massimiliano Fuksas. It will be visible from Piazza Nicola Amore thanks to its futuristic dome. Inside the station, passengers will experience a light show representing a day long trip, alternating sunrise, sunset and night.
The station will also pay tribute to the city’s long history. During the excavation works, an ancient Gymnasium was found, a temple initially created by Augustus for the Olympic games. Passengers will be able to admire this ancient Roman treasure, transforming their daily commute into a unique experience.
